After the Last Breath
What it really like? No one ever comes back to tell us

After the Last Breath
What happens when we die, who truly knows,
Is there a door that opens somewhere unseen,
A softer road beyond the closing eyes,
A place more gentle than this restless earth?
Do we step forward into clearer light,
Where tired hearts are finally understood,
Where every wound is laid to quiet rest,
And love stands waiting like an open home?
Or is it silence after the last breath,
A sudden dark where every echo stops,
No dream, no thought, no memory of the day,
Just stillness deeper than the deepest sleep?
I stand between the answers and the doubt,
The living mind asks questions of the dark,
Yet something in the soul keeps leaning on,
A hope that life is more than dust and bone.
Perhaps the truth is kinder than we fear,
Perhaps a hand will guide us through the night,
Or maybe peace itself becomes our rest,
A calm so deep no sorrow follows there.
Until that hour arrives for each of us,
We walk this world with wonder and with doubt,
And every heartbeat softly seems to ask,
What waits for us beyond the final door? ✨
