AFRICA

AFRICA

In the land of the continent so vast,

Where once the sun shone bright,

Now darkness reigns supreme at last,

And sadness clouds the light.

The people once so full of hope,

Now struggle to survive,

As poverty and disease elope,

And the young barely thrive.

The fields that were once lush and green,

Now lay barren and dry,

As famine and drought take their hold,

And the people struggle and die.

The sound of laughter once filled the streets,

Now only silence remains,

As war and violence take their toll,

And the people live in pain.

The children once so full of joy,

Now cry for food and aid,

As disease and poverty destroy,

And the future starts to fade.

The elders who once spoke of pride,

Now weep for what was lost,

As corruption and greed collide,

And the people bear the cost.

The beauty of the land so grand,

Now marred by man's own hand,

As pollution spoils the air and sea,

And the earth begins to stand.

The animals that once roamed free,

Now struggle to survive,

As man encroaches on their land,

And their numbers start to dive.

The traditions and cultures once so rich,

Now fade into the past,

As modern times take over quick,

And the old ways cannot last.

The people of this land so dear,

Now cry out for a change,

As they struggle to survive in fear,

And the world looks on estranged.

Oh Africa, once so brightand bold,

Now covered in a shroud of pain,

As the people struggle to hold,

Onto hope amidst the rain.

But still, there is a glimmer of light,

A hope that softly burns,

That one day, everything will be right,

And the people will finally earn,

The freedom and peace they so deserve,

The dignity and respect they long for,

The chance to build a better world,

And to finally close the door,

On the sadness and pain that once held sway,

And to open up a new day,

Where the people of this land so dear,

Can finally live without fear.

So let us stand together strong,

And work to make this hope a reality,

To right the wrongs that have been done,

And to build a better society.

For Africa, once so bright and bold,

Deserves a future bright and gold,

And with our help and love and care,

We can make that future fair and square.
