Advice from the Guru
A Second Helping
If a politician asks for money
put it back in your pocket
if they get elected
they will reach in and grab it
for you
If a celebrity writes an article
giving advice
on how to live your life
wait another year, and
they will write
another article
to proclaim
they've made it out
of the complete mess
their life has been the past year
If a news anchor tells you
the world is on fire
take it with a grain of salt
they will lie to you again
tomorrow night
If Social Media keeps asking
you to hate your neighbor
put the phone or tablet down
turn the computer screen off
take a walk outside, if you’re
not already there
inhale a deep breath
of fresh air
then exhale slowly
and remember
silly cat videos are better
than hate
If the voices in your head
keep telling you
all the wrong things
on all the wrong days
stop listening, for awhile
when you start again
they will have brand new
things to say
