Advice From a Lemon

A Self-Help Poem

My sour nickname comes from “Troubleshooting.”

No produce production

From the fruit that’s not fruiting.

But I’ve miles to go,

Though my name has been slandered.

With one tiny defect, I’m labeled “Substandard.”

Did you see my warranty?

It’s there by law.

Ignore those red flags that you heard, that you saw.

Blame not my assembly

Or place of my birth;

Location alone should not merit my worth

I’m a Special Edition,

With discount percentage

And new restorations, my listing says “Vintage.”

Okay, I’m reaching; I’ve embellished and fudged.

You’d stretch the truth, too, if dismissed and judged.

So, what are YOU hiding?

What faults aren’t you showing?

What secrets left under the hood are ongoing?

You know they mean little, right?

They’re not who steers.

The drive can continue if you can switch gears.

A word of advice?

Own what makes you rare!

Because everyone needs a little repair.

Remember, your value’s not measured or weighed,

For life will give lemons, so make lemonade.
