Sometimes we're afraid to let go

Of the ones we cherish the most

Cause we're afraid of the harm

That can be caused

When they allow others to get in

Too Close

Locking them away,

Sheltering them from the world

Isn't the best way to go

We have to let them explore

Take steps out the door

Come into their own

Like a blossoming flower unfurls

When we argue and they refute

When we have disputes

We just want to keep them safe

Yet, that love comes at a cost

Of making mistakes

As they'll search for love elsewhere

Where their feelings will be misplaced

When they get hurt

When they get damaged

We feel we're the ones

That will need bandages

We can't imprison them with walls

Floors

&

Ceilings

To protect them forever

Those are improper dealings

We have to guide them through life

To break free and find real, genuine care

And Not Escape into

"Disillusioned Feelings"

Oof, yes, I often think about how challenging it would be to be a parent these days...all the modern influences 🫣

It's the hardest thing! The sleepless nights when they are tiny are nothing next to this challenge!

  • Well-wrought! To parent is a difficult thing and moreso now than ever with so many evil influences vying for their attention in the short attention span theater of modern CULTure.

Yes, so true. I don't know why, (maybe I struggled to break free) I never had a problem to let my kids explore the world, from small on. But it feels strange, to see them as adults suddenly while still feeling young myself. :D

We do indeed. And we need to acknowledge the role of separating from the family of origin in our teenagers, it's important to let it happen.

  • I'll just stay away from love, lol. Too risky!
