Adrift in paradise

A clipper with slack canvas

Sailors lazing along upon dead seas

As their captain eyes the horizon

Time ticks

Then tocks

As clouds pass

The captain sighs

They must sail

Navigating strange tides

Charting unknown shores

The company must profit

Or else they die

Hyperbolic? Maybe

But...

No breeze means no journey

No journey means no pay

No pay means no food

So he watches his compass

And ponders the stars

Waiting

Waiting

Hoping the salty sea

Ushers forth deliverance

Praying

Praying

Dusk settles

He awakes

Not to squalls

But to firm tranquil seas

Adrift in paradise

The captain curses

The absence of industry

As Poseidon laughs

In the face of

His futility
