Addiction

A poem

An amazing affliction

To be drowned in addiction

Held by predictions

Can I make it out of this pit?

How long could I go on without it?

It is not so simply a choice

Something declared by voice

It's an everlasting process

To be continued..

Daily.

We need constant attention

To keep strayed from intention

To give up a reliance on escape

To allow the freedom of release

True comforts lie

In the realm of knowing

So hard to try

When the clouds start growing

Drawing us back

To the depths..

Of controlling..

Behavior.

Of escapist..

Behavior.

Of demanding..

Behavior.

Our addictions

Are something that

We allow

In ignorance

To what we know

Hoping for a better show

To disrupt the mind

To keep us blind

And not to help us grow

Addiction is..

A gateway to heaven

With the conditional entry

Of returning to hell

Getting "high"

Feeling happy

Coming "down"

Feeling crappy

Fly..

Drown..

Returned to ground

Confusion in tow

At addiction time

Why is it

So hard..

To just..

Say..

No.

It feels like a passion

But the reality is

That it is simply

A ration

Of some fashion

To feign joy

Only then..

To lose it..

Once again.
