Acts Of Kindness

Little moments, unexpected pleasures,
Little memories that one always treasures,
Somebody sees you struggling one day,
And comes right over, going out of their way.

It fills your heart with a little gladness,
Knowing somebody noticed your sadness,
A person you never even knew,
Still cared enough to stop for you.

They could have carried on down the street,
Never stopped or moved their feet,
But something inside them made them bend,
To help mend the heart of someone not a friend.

They see you sitting deep in thought,
Knowing perhaps that life has brought
A little too much for one day to bear,
And quietly ask if you want them there.

“Excuse me, you look such a lovely person,
You shouldn’t be sitting here hurting,
If you would like to share, I’ll listen to you,
If not, I’ll take you for a brew.”

And somehow those few gentle words
Are sweeter than the song of birds,
Because when somebody stops that day,
A little of your hurt just slips away.

A problem shared is a problem halved,
That’s something I have always believed,
And sometimes kindness from a stranger
Can help a troubled heart feel relieved.

So come on then, let’s have that brew,
No questions asked, just me and you,
You don’t have to tell me why you’re sad,
I’ll just sit here until you don’t feel as bad.

Random kindness just like that,
Can make you glad for where you’re at,
A stranger comes and takes your hand,
When they don’t even have to understand.

So treasure all those little moments,
The unexpected pleasures life sends through,
Because sometimes the kindest heart you meet
Belongs to somebody who never even knew you.
