Acceptance

Poetry

By Skye DayPublished 8 years ago • 1 min read

I cried today

Not for anyone else

But finally for myself

I cried for this quiet, confused, scared child

I cried for this woman carrying a hole in her chest

I felt the grief, the pain

I let it all in

Finally accepting where this heart has been

I cried again

This time because I felt peace

I took the burden from my shoulders

And blew it into the wind

I felt something lifting me from my knees

Showing me all the things I'm destined to be

I smiled today

I smiled for this creative, kind, wandering child

I smiled again

For this strong, courageous, passionate woman

I smiled knowing, this is where it all begins.
