Absurd Beliefs
From Here to the Edge of the Cosmos
Some — many — believe that we live again, yet we
only live once before our body burns or rots
but it’s never enough to only live once, free
or not, although freedom is an illusion, thoughts
of grandeur meandering in the brain like stars
Why am I here, where am I going, who the fuck
am I? and more useless questions, including Mars
I mean Ares, the original Greek name, schmuck
whoever you are, even Greek, English-speaking
or some other famous language, because they died
and their tongue with them, the funeral was reeking
of despair, at least of the soulless Cosmos, wide
as nothing else knowable in this existence
filled with insistence, inconsistence and distance.

Oooo, this was so profound and thought provoking! Loved your poem!
Liked this one a lot. The structure of a sonnet (10 syllables per line) get stretched in places, but I'm okay with that. Really loved hearing about Disney's, "The Lone Ranger". Hadn't heard that was in the works. Thanks also for including the link to that perfectly titled music. "Absurdity Advancing..." for sure!
