Absolution

For Survival

By Stacey Mataxis Whitlow (SMW)Published about a month ago • 1 min read
Formatted or No?

I should have known
I am your mother.

How would you have?
I was there

I did not even know

I am a woman.

I know better.
I was warned.

You should not have
even been there.

No wonder you hate me

working.
I abandoned you.

They promised to keep you safe.
They failed us.

He was too old for the program.

A wolf amongst kittens.

He should have never

He’s always

      been there.

He should have known better.

He did.

Someone needs to know
what he did.

We know.

The world should know.

How would that change anything?
They have always known.

What do we do now?

Same as before.
Survive.

How do we do that?

I don’t know.

Yet?!

Like they did,

I suppose.

I survive.
You survive.

We survive.
They survive.
