poem

By ellePublished 5 months ago 1 min read

always running

became my name

comforting, confusing, full of disdain

didn’t think what i heard what they said

everyone’s voice stays same in this head

forgotten as i rotted

given no thought but all blame

had my name been brought to nothing but shame

if i’d search for courage id be left for dead

just a glimpse or a glimmer

keeps more alive but strain to survive

left lone but alone hurts more than regret

made shed all skin many sins i have bled

never ask for more air

or beg for more bread

put myself on your shelf

quit pretending i’m mine when in time

ripped apart is my heart

still id fight to keep it buried in me

til i’ve been left all but bitterly seething

under water

vying dread

will i see

xolo searching for body

yearning lurking through the reef

zooming past as it sees this hearty thief to bring lifelong love or deadly disease
