I'm standing in front of the storm door,
Its chill brushes against my skin as I look out on the rain drizzling down
As I stand there, I lock eyes with the next two competitors of my raindrop race
As the two begin their descent I watch in amazment, left in the lead, now right, approaching the finish line I believe we'll have a tie, oh no! Right takes and unexpected turn
Congratulations left you have reached your destination, you're finished you win!
I watch the raindrop race runner up reach the end and notice his reflection in the glass,
He's just sitting in that chair looking out the window
I hope with every ounce of my being that he too is having a raindrop race
That way when his competitors reach the end, even if it's just for a second, that silly little game will give him a bit of relief from everything eating away at his mind
