A World Turned Off

Far and away onto forever

I wish and sigh for yesterdays.

Wishing, waiting to take back

Actions upon actions that carved a way.

Choices made and choices kept,

I rally behind foreign words

Trembling before my eyes,

Dicing pains with tips of swords.

Light and dark collide to gray

As icy tears steal onto skin.

Immovable in history’s pages

Yet fragile and unceasingly thin.

A glimpse, a dash, of imagery,

Promising and lying.

Unable to give us what we want.

Long enough to keep from dying.

Betrayal echoes in empty halls.

Empty hearts line the garden.

Corrupting the innocent beauty,

Passionate and ever ardent.

Dreaming stills of clouds colliding.

Wiping raindrops from the ears.

Wiping teardrops from the eyes.

Loosening our grip on fears.
