A World Of Wonders

Oz Man Out

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a month ago 1 min read

Old fashion feelings

Playing tricks on the mind

A box full of darkness

And heart of sunshine

True methods of madness

Balancing cruel and kind

A princess without palace

And a few words that rhyme

A seed planted with promise

A weed willing to grow

Released from a subconscious

To be tossed to and fro

Scribbled on a canvas

Artwork on display

We’re no longer in Kansas

At least that’s what they say

So, come on Mr. scarecrow

Tells us what to do next

Somewhere over the rainbow

Or the next game of chess

Wherever the wind blows

You will choose what is best

If we relinquish control

And lock our hearts in our chests

Nice take on a classic work. I liked the references to 'The Wizard of Oz.'
