A Winter's Hope

Where have all the snowmen gone?

By Summer SunsetPublished 7 years ago 1 min read
Winter - Arlington Row cottages in Bibury, the Cotswolds, western England

When winter falls

I hope to see

Snow outside my window

Glistening bright

Through heaven's light

It's a perfect sight to see

Unfortunately

I doubt my wish

Will really see the light

For December morn

The sky is torn

But just frost and ice abound

No snow will ice the cold damp ground

Like icing on a cake

No sparkling snow

No winter's glow

Just cold grey light at dawn

But surely it's not too late

To hope and wish and pray

That snow might frost and blanket

The cold grey light of day
