A weathered heart, heavy and full,
weighs down a set of lungs ~ crushing~
and pressed out against a delicate rib cage
Ouch, I can't breathe
A struggle for breath ~ harder and harder ~
as the darkness folds in upon itself
The oxygen replaced by desperation
a sputter ~ a gasp ~ is all that can be mustered
no words in any known language are able to
escape
they rattle against the skull in panicked claustrophobia
what to do to now to help the body
~ unfold
release ~
~ relax
one deep breath and then two and again
until the weathered heart is able to face the day once more
