A timely word

What is a word spoken in due season?

A remark of compassion to the afflicted spirit?

The encouragement towards another in their suffering?

An exchange of kindness to the humble and lowly?

The harsh rebuke of a loving friend,

The wise counsel relayed by another,

The forewarning of both friends and kin,

It is a trade, a business, quite frankly.

Listening to the complaints of another,

Hearing the agony of man's addiction,

Or the wounds from the abused woman,

The problems of overcoming such strongholds,

And the implications of what such a path would cost,

To hear, to give an ear, to truly,

The angst of another's fear,

The trembling of her tone of going back to what once was,

To overcome a constant terror that overtakes your courage,

And to muster the boldness and strength, to tell her how you love her, deeply…

What better time to raise the spirits of others in such seasons of affliction?

Where the uncertainty of tomorrow lingers over into today,

And clarity is obscured and misconstrued by the repetition of ill news.

A word spoken in due season, is something I intend to be known for,

And to be have the right words spoken precisely and accurately at the proper time,

Such execution, such marksmanship,

May we have such souls who are inspired to say such things,

To listen to another and perhaps,

Learn something about themselves in the process…
