A Thief’s Requiem
The Afterthoughts of a Seasoned Thief

Laying in a field, and thought;
I knew I could not get caught.
The World was part green;
So was my pockets.
My life was like that of a Money Tree,
Growing, branching out;
Yet, I was rooted in blood,
Scarlet
As the fruit on my leaves.
The more I survived, the more money I grew;
The closer I came to death.
Sweet chloroform paled away as I aged with the seasons.
Carbon Dioxide turned liquid as I drowned in a crimson sea
Of my own greedy sin --- I stared at the sky,
Welcomed Fate.
I could run no more.
