A Testament to a Life Well-Lived

In Simpler Words: Getting Older

When I am old,

My life will count for something.

My wrinkles will tell stories

So my vocal cords don’t have to.

With every creak and crack

Of my aging back

I’ll smile and say

“These old bones don’t work like they used to.”

When I am old,

My life will be a testament to my laugh lines.

My hands will have created

My arms will have served

My feet will have moved

My heart will have loved.

When I am old,

My life will count for something.

I will live my life so loud that

When I am old,

My lips won’t have to tell my stories.

My body will.
