A surprise on Christmas Eve.

Twas a dark and dreary night,

The lights were dimmed,

No thing in sight,

The snowflakes fell as winter drew near,

Neither flame nor candle to make it clear.

The lampposts dim, the flame would spur,

The wind would flow to then deter,

The darkened corners of the streets blind spot,

As if burning all for naught.

The children rest in peacefully sleep,

In the hopes of what they soon, would reap,

Parents kiss near the hearth fire,

With love to find its desire.

A sudden thump, a hearty boast,

To interrupt a loving toast,

A sudden thought of Christmas tales,

A reassuring laugh from prior sales,

So it was with great delight,

On Christmas Eve, that night.
