The rain fell down my face
Washing away my tears
A subtly offered embrace
I smiled softly
And I knew I should have run
But the outcome; far too costly
I held out my hand
And was met with another
A sandy hand, one I couldn’t understand
I was wrapped in white
And led to my grave
A home that was built upon fright, out of sight
Again began the cycle of hurt
One I must remove myself from
A hand was raised, this time I cursed
My white dress turned red
But not from the blood of I
From the blood of the head
Of the man I just shot dead
