A Struggle Within

Your heart wants you to listen.

Sometimes it feels like there’s a constant haze surrounding me.

Like something is blurring my vision.

Or someone.

A soft whisper behind me urges me to turn back.

“Don’t trust what you can’t see.”

“I’m the only one you can believe.”

“Just stay here.”

Maybe they’re right.

I should stay with them.

Right?

The haze starts to clear as I begin to turn around.

My body stops.

“You know this isn’t right.”

“They’re trying to trap you.”

My heart starts to ache begging me to listen.

A warm light caresses my skin.

The familiar haze wraps its arms around me.

“Don’t leave me.”

These words dig into my soul.

But…

I’m done.

I won’t let you control me anymore.

My life is my own.

I’m sorry.
