A Stranger To Myself

Now I know it’s much too late to hope for more

A Stranger To Myself

I looked back at old days

and barely knew that face.

Not because time changed me

just life had done its work.

Some hopes disappeared early

some stayed a little longer.

Some things I held too tightly

until they slipped away.

I thought I knew the future

and where my life would go.

Then ordinary moments

changed everything at once.

You adapt without noticing

and become somebody else.

Not worse and not better

just shaped by different things.

There are parts I still miss

and parts I left behind.

Some deserved remembering

some needed letting go.

I no longer chase old versions

or wish to turn around.

That person had their season

and did what they could do.

So I stand where I am now

and stop comparing paths.

Not every change is loss

and not all endings fail.

I keep moving forward

without needing to know.

Some questions stay unanswered

and still the days continue.
