A Song For Jacob

Headphones Not Included

This song came to me yesterday and poured out with minimal effort. It’s been set to music, which I will record and share soon. Maybe. 🙃 Is “Jacob” based on a real person? Possibly. 🙂

I think we all know people who are so good at loving others, they often forget to love themselves. If this hits home, I hope you’ll take action. Love often, love much, just love.

“Jacob”

VERSE I:

Jacob is a friend that I know well

Always the best dressed in the room

With a joke ready to tell

Jacob knows just how to woo the crowd

A maestro on the microphone

But sometimes I think he feels alone

Remarkable decorum

The leader of the forum

CHORUS

Jacob, take down your display

For a while

Give yourself some grace

You don’t need to bend until you break

Jacob, take a breath

You have the time

Can’t you see the difference that you make?

VERSE II:

Jacob’s not the kind to show his pain

The master of deflection

A candle in the rain

Jacob gives a smile each place he goes

Promoting passion, life, and laughter

The mascot cheers for what he’s after

Remarkable decorum

The leader of the forum

CHORUS II:

Jacob, you can slow things down

It’s alright

Nobody else can take your place

You don’t have to always be so strong

Jacob, open up your heart

And let us in

I promise it’ll be okay

Don’t you know we’ve been here all along?

BRIDGE:

Hustle never stops

Until the penny drops

CHORUS:

Jacob, take down your display

For a while

Give yourself some grace

You don’t need to bend until you break

Jacob, take a breath

You have the time

Can’t you see the difference that you make?

Jacob is a friend that I know well

Always the best dressed in the room

With a joke ready to tell
