A Silent Shiver

The crisp air blows throughout my little town...

By Alexis RogersPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

The crisp air blows throughout my little town,

the one that I call home.

It sends a shiver through my body

and permeates the layers of warmth

that attempt to shield the winter chill.

I can feel the crisp air on my frostbitten face

as I journey down the barren road,

not a sound to be heard but the stirring of the white, crystal snow

and the wind howling through my ears.

The town as desolate as the trees that surround me,

frozen, dying, no colors to be seen upon their outstretched limbs.

The world is silent, dead, depressed

but I find beauty in this time that they call winter.

The gray sky above filled with thick clouds

as dense as the snow that covers the ground,

only a hint of light to be seen.

The crisp air blows, sending a shiver throughout my body.

But I continue on.

Down the barren road.
