A Secret Life

A Poem

I thought you were different

I thought you were something new

I thought you were what I was searching for

If only I knew

If only I knew that I'd love truly

Just to be scorned and tossed aside

If only I knew that you'd say sweet things

Just to put the venom in my veins

Your silver forked tongue flicks the air

To see who your next victim will be

But you can't play your games forever

Soon, your secrets will fly free

They'll fly on the wind

With the birds of the air

Letting everyone know

Of the secret life you use to ensnare

heartbreak
