A Season of Profound Loss

A Poem

By Christopher DubbsPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

I have entered a season of profound loss

My husband of twenty two years has left me

a warm breath dissipating on a winter night

My father of fifty years has cancer

wilting in the distance, a February tree

My eleven year old dogs are old

One will die with him

One will die alone with me

heartbreak
