Luna,
Where are you tonight?
My eyes scour the heavens,
where darkening clouds obscure
you from my sight
White light cuts a scar in the sky,
a thin line of silver, and I spy
your new crescent nestled
deep in black velvet,
A sprinkle of stars flung across the night
appear as grains of salt on midnight cloth,
or the sparkle of diamonds afloat
on ebony water.
Secrets of the southerly winds are
whispered to the sugary sands, by
the magnetic ebb and flow of waves
in breathy susurrations.
Your reflection spreads quicksilver
across the rippling surface of the sea.
in the soft light of your crescent,
Luna, smile down on me.
