“A rainbow at my door”

There was a rainbow at my door

That I didn’t ask Amazon for,

After a noon lightning came a thundering storm,

then the colored covenant shone bright and pure,

I looked and behold - not one pot of gold,

just a hazy band of hues

red orange yellows and blues

like costumed parade feathers

just passing through

And I marveled at the moment

At thought how true

That is you stop chasing rainbows

Eventually they come to you

See? It doesn’t take a dollar to change your attitude.

Only a moist mist and sunlight angled at just the right altitude.

Is sure to change your mood when you open the door

and there at the floor

a rainbow has found the golden you!
