A Pound of fat!!

Mirror mirror on the wall

do you have to tell it all?

Where do you get the glaring light

to make my clothes look just too tight?

I think I'm fine but I can see

you won't cooperate with me.

The way you let the shadows play

you'd think my hair was turning grey.

What's that you say, a double chin?

No that's the way the light comes in.

If you persist in peering so

you'll confiscate my facial glow.

And then if you're not hanging straight

you'll tell me next I'm gaining weight.

I'm really quite upset with you

for giving this distorted view.

I hate you being so smug and wise.

Oh look what's happened to my thighs!

I warn you now oh mirrored wall

since we're not on speaking terms at all

If I look like this in my new jeans

you'll find yourself in smitherines!

I step on the scale without any shame

If I gain this week I have plenty to blame;

Instead of eating things I really had oughter

I just say I'm probably filled up with water.

It's my time of the month and that's probably why

It just couldn't have been that big piece of pie.

I worked extra hard and deserve some kind of treat--

Let's have cornbread and beans instead of salad and meat.

I sneezed twice today, maybe I'm taking the flu;

You must feed a cold so that's what I'll do.

Buttered popcorn and pop I better eat well;

The kids are in bed so there's no one to tell.

The kids were fussy all day today;

I better soothe my nerves in a special way.

First some ice cream and cake and into bed I will leap;

The pudding is missing, I must have walked in my sleep.

Everyone knows calories should count,

But if you eat them at night you can have any amount.

What if tomorrow we have a giant earthquake

I had better finish that last piece of cake.

These are excuses that our scales can see;

The only one I'm fooling is really just me.

I'm going to try harder to diet this week

So maybe some day I'll be thin, svelte, and chic
