A Porous Shoe, A Shoe Like My Heart

I had to let you go.

I had to let you go

and I'm glad that I did

you kept playing with my heart

and I wasn't having it

I thought that you cared

but unfortunately I cared more

and once again I was in an empty room

behind a loose trap-door

you see

at first I knew I could walk out

but I just didn't

I tried to build trust between the two of us

but we barely had anything to quit

had anything to lose,

and had nothing to build on

we never walked in each other's shoes

...or maybe we did?

but I guess your shoe was too small

and mine,

too big
