A Poetic Beachside Comfort Zone

Get Comfortable Challenge

By Marc OBrienPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
Lithuanian/American Author/Poet Marc O'Brien

Sitting there engaging in the fiction informative book

Sinister grin reader had the look

Enjoying the character’s world getting shook

Vengeful plot highlighting the luring stimulating hook

Is what it took

Fight back, fight back

From the antagonist attack

The relaxed solo audience might think

Rooting for the protagonist giving a wink

Flipping through the pages

Safe from dramatic conflicting cages

Experiencing a writer’s fantasy land

Feet submerged in the beach’s sand

Now it is time to put the story down

Take a listen to the shore sound

Thankful skin is not burning peeling red

Attractive photogenic brown instead

Turning attention to the tempting ocean

Wanting to clean off the sunscreen lotion

Running into a breaking wave

Without plans for remains to be buried in the watery grave

Feeling the sea filled with salt

Reflecting on the paperback just bought

Could there be anything out there

That would give a scare

Peanut butter and jelly fish

Left behind by the children’s birthday party wish

When the natural bath came to an end

Back to the novel the author handwrote with a pen

Promoted as a whale tail

Anglers who sail

Much better than building a castle using a plastic shovel and pail

This was truly a coastal living poetic comfort zone

That can be enjoyed even when someone is alone

Good night to the maritime dream

Wondering out there if any swimmers are ready to scream

nature poetry
