A Poem for My Mother

A poem written for Mother's Day

By Jenisa de CastroPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

a thousand tiny molecules accumulate

watching

waiting to see me bloom

into a rose as red as the blood cells

that heat more and more

everytime

we take another sip of red wine.

birds chirp in the waking morn

as you and I dance together

for what seems like hours

in the chaotic tundra of our dreams.

we smile.

a thousand tiny molecules

accumulate

watching

reminiscing

"When does the red rose stop?

It's already red as the blood cells

that heat more and more

everytime

I take another sip of red wine."

but it never stops, only grows,

letting time affect its warping

state -

succumbing further and further into

Eternity.

Yet as she blooms,

Birds continue to chirp,

And we continue to dance,

And we continue to smile.

and I am forever thankful that

you were picked out of all of them,

to be my accumulation of tiny molecules.

Forever waiting. Forever reminiscing.

Forever loving.

You smile at the red rose you've created

out of your own heated blood cells. And I look back.

And I love you too.
