A Party of Phrases

'You're invited' invited you

A Party of phrases was forming behind closed doors

And the first phrase to arrive was ‘I’m yours’.

Then the lie laid down as other patrons arrived in style,

‘A while’ showed at once but ‘at once’ took a while.

‘Posh’ was bloated and ‘sleek’ had gotten chubby, capital C.H

But then ‘fat’ strolled in looking phat, capital P.H

‘Wind down’ was the life of the party while ‘pumped up’ took a nap,

And outside the last ones to show up were ‘game over’ and ‘that’s a wrap’.

So, ‘raise the roof’ rose the roof and the night raged on,

‘let go’ got drunk and almost fell off the balcony but thank god he held on.

So finally the party ended as ‘that’s enough’ got back to his house

to find crazy screaming coming from that bastard ‘as quiet as a mouse’

So he kicked out ‘goodbye’ and said farewell to ‘so long’,

The last soul he found was ‘this sucks’ hitting the bong.
