Life started with a breath at dawn.
Treasured and safe it was at first.
For its nest was all it could lay eyes on,
in the deep dark forest where it was nursed.
Day after day, it would eat,
From the comfort of its nest.
Where it would soon get up on its feet,
to begin its quest.
For a moment it saw the blue sky,
But it then met the twigs down below.
Again and again it would try,
until it fathomed that it had to fly solo.
A while ago its mother had left it alone,
Leaving the little chick to turn its heart to stone.
