Beneath a scar-lit sky of amethyst

Lite-Brite's successor

Jewels in the shape

Of dreams mounted

To moon-speckled parchment

Then abandoned

Her locks, a garnet slash

Against this gown of unforgiving white

The labyrinth of naïveté, each twig like

Your limbs that once kept her pinned

To these beloved hills

Their flesh now stripped, hands calcified to stone

Still reaching, taking

From within the hedge's depth

Consumed by its hostile leaves

Here, she will remain

If only to whisper

Run, swift as you can

At the next wide-eyed doe

Caught in crosshairs of ruby
