A New York Summer

The Bright Sun and Moon

Flooded streets of people dancing in the sun

Humans are too happy to carry a gun

Smiling faces and sweat glistening upon exposed skin

Ice cream trucks roaring and breathing in heavy, hot steamy city air

No one has a care in the world, no fight, other than breaking into some air conditioning

New York is filled with magic already, but summertime brings a different light

Happy hearts and running dogs in bright green parks

Everyone looks around to find no one in the dark alone

Last summer, there was a pandemic, but we still felt hope in our souls

This summer we’ll have more

Kids will fly through pouring fire hydrants like they were at Niagara Falls

Once the sky becomes dark around eight o’ clock or even later

Everyone will run home and pray for another fated hot day

The bright sun will kiss your face with warmth on the next morning while you’re still in bed and you’ll bounce out, throw on some easy clothes, grab a coffee then stroll around the city, where ever your feet will take you.

The Magic city sun will always guide you.
