A Nation Dismantled

A poem

Our home – our sanctuary; burnt selfishly by one

Your rules – your power; crumbling beliefs into none

Our tenancy – our commitment; faithful to withhold

Your landlord – your failure; corrupt as foretold

Our hopes – our dreams; fruitful and cherished

Your goals – your priorities; careless without merit

Our freedom – our country; fractured in two

Your corruption – your war; ignited by you

Our lives – our world; snapped like a crucifix

Your game – your army; a mockery of politics

Our script – our story; perished between pages

Your future – your saga; a library within cages

Our time – our presence; miserable at best

Your light – your world; a pipe-dream, no less
