A Mother’s Wish

Grow up!

Eat your fruit,

I know what’s best,

You’re cute!

Wear your best suit,

I know all the rest,

Here is an apple, to boot!

Don’t forget to pack your flute,

Don’t be such a pest,

Oh shoot!

I almost forgot to transmute,

Now that you are old enough to know best,

My wishes for you have been a hoot!

I am your mother, and I won’t uproot,

But you took your test,

I trust that you won’t be a brute!

You didn’t loot, you didn’t toot,

Go on your own, be my guest,

It’s time for you to choose your own route,

I will end this now, before my point is moot!
