A Momentary Grok

. . .

A Momentary Grok

Erupting from my bed, from a blissful nirvana

In the midst of a vision of harmonious lucidity

So astoundingly perfectly truthful

There could be no chance of duplicity

…

I’d had a moment …

A moment of perfect clarity

It was world shaking

So perfect in its formless rarity

….

I grokked this crystalline lattice

Formed of thinly spun sugar

Tenuous, breakable, a soap bubble

Sneezed out like a virtual booger

…

From this day forward my life, our lives

This day to day grinding drudge

Would never be the same

Since this fecund life altering nudge

…

I understood the “WHY?!”

I had glimpsed behind the curtain

I must pay attention to the man

Of this one thing I was certain

…

I knew instantly

My grasp was tenuous at best

So I grabbed for my notebook

Before it could migrate west

…

My EUREKA! moment must be recorded

For all posterity to share

For not to enlighten the masses

Would be horrifically, terribly unfair

…

My notebook was a wasteland

Neither a sheet nor a scrap

My pen was out of ink

This scene not a wrap

…

As my mind screamed in anguish

A cleansing, brain scraping tornado built

Morphing my mindscape to a vast barren desert

Littered with scattered grains of literary guilt

…

My shaky house of cards

That perfectly formed monumental edifice

Was lifted, torn from it’s foundation

My masterpiece thrown bodily from the precipice

…

My Mona Lisa, my David … Falling, dwindling

Disappearing into the bottomless abyss

In agony of loss, I threw myself after it

I plunged from atop the proverbial cliffs

…

I fell into a whirling morass

Of seething chaotic energy

Knowing if once lost

Never would I regain this synergy

…

Nooooooooo! I screamed… I cried

I cannot lose this epiphany!

Humanity must know!

Must hear this wondrous symphony

…

Once known all would fall down to weep

With wonder at the sheer beauty

Of this my bawling brain child

Elucidation of the masses my ultimate duty

…

My vision dissipated, my mind’s eye went blind

It’s psychedelic canvas faded to shrouded grey

My once in a lifetime masterful stroke of grok

Having slipped it’s tenuous mooring lazily drifted away

…

I reached rock bottom

The sub basement of Hell

My beautiful universe altering discovery

Had heard death’s keening knell

…

All humanity would now be poorer

Though they would never be aware

Of the loss they had suffered

Only I would know or care

…

My family found me there

Gibbering, mumbling, pawing

My head cradled in my cramped hands

Fingers clenched, lips bloody with gnawing

…

Crimson scribble adorned my wall

Funneling, runnelling in spattered drips

A stillborn fetus’ life’s blood

Clotting in unreadable comedic strips

…

Now I spend my every moment

Banging my head against padded walls

Trying to jar loose the wondrous epiphany

That had graced then ghosted my literary halls

…

Sorry humanity.. I tried

Time for my pills? Thanks doc
