A Moment

Taking it all in.

By Bex ReddinPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

I close my eyes, the skin like a veil between soul and sky, Hiding my pupils from the garish sun-rays,

Creating a golden-red haze of epidermal lenses.

I sit still, pensive, photosynthesising like a tree

As several strands of hair dance upon my cheek,

Tickling like climbing ants.

Birds blow kisses my way, fluffing their feathers in flirtatious array - Will they find their mate,

Or is it too late in the year?

Perhaps they just sing to be heard and appreciated.

I epiphanise on how we make life so complicated

And long to rest in the simplicity of now,

But how?

A car beeps in the distance, an airplane overhead,

Modern life tears me from my moment.

And nature gets lost again, drowning in our ignorance.
