A Minute To Spare

About endings.

By Jason MortonPublished 20 days ago • 1 min read

Were it not so true as to be

Something coming only for you

Others guessed with knowledge but could not see

Only you can see it all the way through

Growing closer, things begin to change

And you must begin to be ready

For there's little to do but arrange

And hope that others remain steady

It comes for all, eventually it's true

The price of living in this plain

There's little different you can do

Beating time drives one insane

Nothing's fair when it comes too soon

Ribbed of precious time unspent

Get it all and every chance to see the new moon

And hit many places still unwent

There is no tomorrow

And that's the curse

Tomorrow not coming brings such sorrow

The end of your verse

But oh, what a ride to midnight

Stopping at 11:59 and a tad more

Was there someone waiting on that midnight train in the light

Or were you doomed to the empty door

sad poetry
