A Dream of Eccentricity

In a dream I woke up to find my house had grown tall and round

It was so strange, I thought it must be a circus clown

The walls were made of red velvet, the windows of gold glass

And the front door was painted with an elephant's backside, alas!

I wandered to the kitchen, 'midst all the swirling pale blue

The lights were flashing and dancing 'round like a peacock's tailes do

I saw three giant carrots perched atop a giant pie

And remembered it must have been there since midnight passed by.

Through the living room and up to the top I flew

Where I saw an old man standing with sandals made of glue

He posed for me in silence, his face seeming so wise

As he held in his hand a pair of tiny dice.

Onward I ventured through the living room door

To find dozens of cats tumbling around on the floor

They purred and meowed as they played tag in between their fur balls of yarn

Each one striving to capture their gifts from fortune or fate's wheel.

The night grew strange even still as I heard my name being called out loud

"Major, It's time for your dream to end," echoed from somewhere 'bove the clouds.

I awoke with a start, no longer within this odd place

But filled with awe for this peculiar dreamscape.
