A Million Shades Of Melanin

Colour.

Colour is all around us. From the greens of grassy plains to the deep blues of the ocean.

From the first glance of fluorescent white lights in a delivery room, to the muted black of our eyelids at our very death bed, colour will always be with us. Even if one is colour blind, they shall see differentiating colours.

No colour will ever be better than another. One can have an opinion or a favourite colour, but no fact will support the proof of superiority of a colour or shade.

So why does this bleeding world try convincing us otherwise? Us humans? Creators of humanity and humankind?

Do we not breathe the same, you and I?

Do we not bleed the same red blood from the same veins that connect to each beating heart and soul individually and independently?

What right does one to look at a colour an assume its intentions or characteristics?

The pain of having to prove something constantly, just because of how you look or what shade you are can never be described completely in words.

The constant anxiety of approval of people you have done no wrong to and or even know.

To have constant eyes on you.

To have “innocent until proven guilty” flipped to “guilty until proven innocent” stamped on you.

Colourism, racism is one of the highest levels of arrogancy. To help heal our world, we need to help the problem from the root.

A thought changes to a mindset.

Poison planted with a seed will spoil the whole harvest.

So.

Shake the stereotypes.

Promote positivity around diversity.

Come together as one.

For the earth,

And peace.
