A Magical Town

Beautiful leaves falling from the trees

A walk through the forest to enjoy the crisp air

Time to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the suburbs.

Work is just taking over and becoming too much in my life

And I need a vacation from work, bills, and a terrible love life.

Noticing all the colors of the leaves blowing in the wind and feeling

Their fight to hold on and being able to relate to their battle.

Walking through the trees listening to their heartbeat and feeling

My own at the same time.  Why did I fall for a man that is

Unavailable?  As I feel their heartbeat and hear the wind blowing,

Suddenly I fall.  There is a whistling sound and a town appears right before my

Eyes.  Laughter and talking from animals can be heard in the distance. 

Blinking of eyes and disbelief at my surroundings and blowing of leaves and

An Autumn wind.  Cats are talking and walking like people in a land called

“October.” The cats are dressed in ball gowns and tuxedos and dancing to blues

And jazz music.  They are laughing and enjoying life like I used to before I met

The man that is unavailable. I want to dance with them and enjoy life again.  

Will they notice me? Is my heartbreak going to allow me to ever heal? 

Leaves blow past me and an orange tabby cat that looks like my cat, Pumpkin,

Picks me up and ask me to dance.  I dance with him and follow his lead.  I can

Dance for hours and not even notice my heartbreak anymore.  I hear the leaves

Whistling and the wind blowing over the sound of the music.  I experience life

Again in a magical town called October.  Suddenly, I fall while dancing.  When

I wake, I am back in the forest, and I hear the sound of the leaves whistling in

The wind. Where is October and when can I return?
