A Love Divined

By an autistic poet

I felt our histories entwine

with each passing glance.

Our ancestors danced in ballrooms,

swam in sacred waters,

and whispered sweet nothings under the moon.

When we locked eyes

I saw a thousand different lifetimes

where you and I belonged as one.

When we finally spoke,

your voice echoed against my eardrums

like a familiar song

I knew deep in my soul.

Together we sang the melody,

and danced to the beat of our hearts.

As our shadows

danced by firelight,

the ghosts of eternal romance

swayed alongside us.
