A Lonely Soul
This is a true story. Well, almost!

We are in this church,
To farewell a man,
Who lies in a box made of Birch.
From a long family of a dwindling clan.
Why did she lie?
He was married for twenty-four years.
They had three daughters, whom he loved so dearly.
Then came that day, which left him in tears,
When the love of his life left him and took the kids.
It was like a kick in the rear.
Why did she cheat?
His girls didn’t have much time for their dad.
It didn’t seem to matter that he was all alone.
They started living their lives elsewhere, and he felt quite sad.
After their house was sold, he was forced to live on his own.
Why did she scream at him?
For the first time in his life,
Moving out with all his belongings,
He was made to rent a house he didn’t like.
His wife no longer wore his rings.
Why did she hate him so?
He nearly died as a baby after developing Nephritis,
A kidney disease that almost claimed his life.
Six months in the children's hospital, modern medicine got him through.
Then again, in his early twenties, Crohn’s disease was quite ferocious.
His inflamed intestines ruptured, and an emergency operation saved him, true.
After he confronted her lies, she confessed to her first deceit.
Two of his daughters have children of their own.
When he became a Pa, he felt so blessed.
And still they didn’t see him; he didn’t see them grow.
If they had asked him, he would have dropped everything just to be there.
He loved each one as his own.
As time moved on.
He took up acting again, as he did in his youth.
Theatre and film were always his passion.
He also loved writing, poems, books and screenplays.
He didn’t do it for money or glory; that wasn’t his fashion.
Sometimes a simple poem would take him days.
Why did she change his words to her own when retelling something he said?
He lived the last of his life,
As best as he could.
Some half-finished projects, many were nice,
Arts and crafts, and some made of wood.
Till the very end, he always had love for the girl who was once his wife. Why?
Thank you all for attending.
I wish you could see what you all meant to me.
A lonely soul in a white box.
Soon to be placed in the ground for all eternity.
This man lying here is me.
