A Little Night Music
Summer Night in Six Movements
Fan
Whir and trill cicada song rise and fall night orchestra. Sudden cricket solo.
Far away bass thunder rumble punctuates several measures.
Sweat
Languorous humid lethargy in the largo.
Amplified mariachi band disco and the weekend clash of dishes at the neighbor’s a quarter mile away.
Breeze
Heated skin on the outer surface of everything registers cool subterranean currents.
Blankets bunched at limp feet a minimal nod to gravity.
Dark
Even the moon has lost her will to move.
Flash of heat lightning punctures steam weighted black velvet.
Crackles hiss and zip. Zig-zag light, purple-edged impression of trees.
Rain
Staccato pelting roof crescendo.
Muffled grass piano, final notes from dripping eaves.

Love the imagery ✨
Vivid imagery here. I enjoyed the line "Muffled grass piano, final notes from dripping eaves." I can picture this so well. Thank you for sharing.
Lovely!
I love this poem. This imagery and sounds are gorgeously rich. I also like the form - the way you alternate between the single word and the longer lines.
