A LINK UNBROKEN

^*

Inside my graduation book

You wrote in pretty ink:

"In the golden chain of friendship,

Regard me as a link."

*^

I took your words to heart, dear friend,

As we always had such fun.

I found you always standing near

When the school days work was done.

*^

As many childhood sweethearts

Marked my tender heart,

As time would pass, I always knew

That somehow, we'd drift apart.

^*

So many friends of long ago,

Who once signed in my book,

Have passed the gates of memory

Without a second look.

*^

But you, dear friend have always been

Around to help me through

The trials of life that otherwise

Would hurt, if not for you.

^*

You've been my strength through all these years

And every day, I think

That in the lasting chain of friendship,

"You're the unbroken link."

Friendship
